Abstract:Many formulas for calculating mean overtopping are based on physical model experiment,but lack validation of field prototype overtopping data.Based on Hengsha east shoal siltation circle project (Phase V) for permissible overtopping prototype observation test,we collect the related experimental data for researching.Using graphic statistics,factor analysis and nondimensionalization,we analyze and compare the factors in the Van der Meer formula and code for design of sea dike project formula based on the recorded data,and evaluate them.The results show that the calculated value of the Van der Meer formula is smaller than the measured data,but the calculated value of the code for design of sea dike project formula is consitent with the measured data,which can basically satisfy the calculation of mean overtopping value of the normal incidence waves of mound breakwater in Shanghai area.
