This paper has discussed difficult construction and other issues in the reinforcement scheme for traditional high-piled pier wharf,and puts forward a new scheme in which a flexible structure is constructed in front of the pier to bear additional loads.The advantages and disadvantages and adaptability of this new scheme with flexible clustered fender piles in front the pier have been analyzed from aspects of safety,applicability,economy and construction convenience.
