Abstract:Laboratory physical model tests are performed to study the influences of different mooring lines combinations on the motion responses and mooring forces of pontoon-type floating breakwater models under large tidal ranges. The mooring systems contain four different mooring combinations, i.e., chain + clump, chain + heave chain, chain + wire rope, chain + nylon rope, of which all mooring lines are arranged parallelly. The advantages and disadvantages of different mooring configurations and different mooring combinations under large tidal ranges are investigated. A kind of mooring system which is suitable for large tidal ranges is given to provide reference for practical engineering.
