This paper summarizes common sections of the breakwater and revetment on soft ground treated by explosive compaction, analyzes two kinds of instability forms, i.e. overall instability and local instability, together with the causes, and discusses measures ensuring the stability of the breakwater from both design and construction.It is concluded that it’s crucial to ensure the breakwater to fall to the design elevation and form complete underwater platform for preventing the breakwater’s instability, while suitable construction method and process controlling are important guarantees of the stability.
