    Abstract:

To address the issue of insufficient ecological functionality in traditional coastal armor units,we develop a novel ecological armor block that integrates effective wave protection with enhanced ecological benefits. The core innovation lies in the structural groove design, which maintains engineering safety and durability while significantly improving the block’s capacity to promote marine organism colonization and habitat formation, thereby achieving a synergistic optimization of protective performance and ecological value. We evaluate its hydrodynamic stability by physical model tests based on gravity similarity laws. The results indicate that the stability coefficient KD value of blocks is 10.0-14.6.The blocks remain stable under more severe marine conditions (significant wave height Hs=11.8 m),with a KD value exceeding 24,indicating a notable performance enhancement from model to prototype. The effectiveness of the proposed structural groove design scheme is proved, which can provide a new technical pathway and practical basis for constructing environmentally friendly and resilient coastal protection engineering.
